Ground screws.
Strength below the surface.

A steel foundation that screws into the ground, transferring the weight of your structure into the soil below. The right specification creates a practical alternative to pouring concrete.

Technical information

What goes into the specification.

Material & protection
Steel with a hot-dip galvanised coating to BS EN ISO 1461. The coating protects the steel against corrosion; ground conditions influence service life.
Shaft diameter
76 mm.
Flange
140–200 mm.
Connections
U-heads, flat plates, post anchors and joist saddles connect the foundation to the structure. Adjustable heads and specialist brackets suit particular applications.
Load assessment
Compression, uplift and lateral forces all matter. Capacity must be assessed for the specific screw and site; dimensions alone do not establish a safe load.
Installation & verification
Specialist equipment rotates the screw into the ground. Site assessment, installation records and load testing where required inform the final specification.
Ground screw sizes

Find the right starting point.

These are the indicative sizes used in our calculator. They are starting points for discussion, not a final engineering recommendation or confirmation of stock.

Ground screw lengths and typical load capacities
LengthLoad capacity

1,050 mm16.5 kN
1,250 mm25 kN
1,550 mm35 kN

Shaft diameter 76 mm, flange 140–200 mm. Longer or larger screws may be needed. Buried services, obstructions, soil conditions and structural loads must be checked before installation. We confirm the final sizes, layout and connections for your project.
